Media School Health Communication Research
Faculty members in the IU Media School conduct research related to health communication. Esi Thompson, PhD, is an assistant professor and teaches public relations courses. Her research focuses on health risk/crisis communication, development communication and strategic communication. She has studied how communication surrounding the Ebola outbreak was undertaken and received by the affected communities and how this could inform public communication/policy around infectious disease outbreaks in developing contexts.
Paul Wright, PhD, has research and teaching interests centered on media psychology, health communication, and audience analysis. His published articles span the fields of communication, psychology, and health and include research and data from Korea, England and Germany.
