Neurodevelopmental Delays in HIV-exposed Children
With a growing research portfolio boosted by a new K23 award from the National Institute for Mental Health, Dr. Megan McHenry and her Kenyan colleague Dr. Eren Oyungo are addressing a critical challenge in the care of infants and young children in sub-Saharan Africa. They have validated measures to screen for and diagnose neurodevelopment challenges among young HIV-exposed children, HIV-infected children, and HIV-unexposed children in Kenya, offering a window for early intervention.
The project offers both undergraduates and medical students the opportunity to be involved in the research.
