Adrian Gardner, MD, MPH, will serve as the new director of the Indiana University Center for Global Health and executive director of the AMPATH Consortium of North American academic health centers effective February 1.
With this appointment, IU School of Medicine Dean Jay Hess has selected an internationally recognized global health visionary to lead the IU Center for Global Health and the AMPATH Consortium into the new decade and beyond.
Adrian first engaged with the AMPATH partnership as a medical student at Brown University in 2001 and sought every opportunity to return to Kenya, eventually serving as team leader in 2006 and assuming the role of AMPATH’s executive field director in 2012. He is an infectious diseases specialist who earned his MD from Brown University and his MPH from Harvard.
Adrian has proven himself as a leader who is respected by his peers in the field of global health and as a caring clinician who “leads with care” and is cherished by his patients.
